I bought this journal in 2002 at the Borders bookstore in Torrance, California. Borders! This tells you how long ago it was. I even took a ten year break from it to write on index cards, in spiral bound notebooks, yellow pads of 8.5 x 11″ paper. I thought about turning it into a scrapbook. It was easier to pack and move it four times than to finish it. How’s that for resistance? Today wasn’t any easier, but today, it’s done. Fin. The longest of my unfinished journals – this was the one with the steepest climb but there are eleven new sonnets towards the end. Those sonnets waited a long time for me to show up. What’s waiting for you in your unfinished notebook?
